Soundboard

June-August 2024

Design Intern

Tools: Notion, Figma, Miro

I analyzed and extracted key insights from user interviews.

I also performed quantitative and qualitative competitor analysis, which I derived important conclusions from and summarized into briefs that were distributed to everyone in the company.

First, I extracted some key quotes and points from the user interviews. Then, I separated them into positive or negative and other Emotions, Servicing, Performance, and Communication. I then color coded them under topics such as amenities and underperformance.

Then, I pinpointed common threads between the interview data, extracted insights, and translated them into needs. I narrowed the needs into one central user need and expectation. This serves to guide the company with a singular theme that their customers are looking for from the service.

Competitor Analysis

I filled out a table on Notion with several of Soundboard's competitors and sections for quantitative details such as size and funding, and other more qualitative details such as marketing strategies and customer reviews. After compiling a large table, I restructured the important points into a document that I sent out to everyone in the company. In this document, I listed the competitors with quick descriptions, marketing takeaways, common customer complaints/praises, and takeaways that I translated into company values.

I made and sent out a second company-wide document for services such as CPAs and bookkeepers. I summarized the key pros and cons for each of the services and concluded with takeaways that I translated in to company values.

These projects taught me how to extract key points and common threads from user data and summarize them in a way that is clear and understandable for the company. This meant that I needed to understand both the company and the consumer, and present information in a way that is legible for both groups. I learned not only how to read between the lines and effectively analyze user data, but also to properly filter and present information that was relevant to the company.
